LINUX
When it comes to operating system, many users are familiar with
Microsoft's WindowsXP or Windows Vista. Some users don't realize that
this operating system is usally included in the cost of a
computer. The price of Windows then vanishes since they include
it in the cost of the computer. Depending on which version of Windows
as been selected for the computer, it can add from $129.99 all the way
up to $299.99 to the cost of a computer. Now for a common computer user
that is using their computer to type documents, surf the internet, send
email, view videos on youtube, Microsoft Windows is pricy piece of
software. But what choice does the user have when Windows is preloaded
onto the computer?
LINUX.
We not only sell Windows we also encourage the use of LINUX.
"What is LINUX?" is a question we hear alot. LINUX is a totally free
operating system, that is free for anyone to use. If its government,
industry, or home use, LINUX is still free. There is no fee, activation
or any other Windows type activation with LINUX. LINUX is a
non-Microsoft Operating System, which allows a user to use their
computer without investing the money into Microsoft's Windows Operating
System. Its a choice. Freedom. Having LINUX installed on your computer
rather then Windows drops the cost of your computer drastically.
You can now afford to put that extra video card in your computer, or a
bluray DVD drive. When the operating system is free, you save.
LINUX comes in different versions. Each version of LINUX
is different and aimed for different type of users. Our preferred
choice of LINUX distrobution is Mandriva LINUX. Mandriva has been
around for quite some time, and its OS provides a graphical user
interface for practically all functions of the operating system. Adding
software to the operating system is as easy as checkmarking what
software you want installed, and click ok. Its really that easy.
LINUX also has many different styles of desktops. Some include,
GNOME, KDE and many others. For the most part, using LINUX is
different, but is essentially the same as windows. It comes
preinstalled with FireFox web browser, OpenOffice.org office suite,
GIMP photo editing software, a multitude of video/audio players
as well as the ability to add other programs that you may remember from
windows. Programs like aMSN, allow users to log into Windows Live
Messenger service. For every non-free program available on Windows,
there is an equivalent program available for LINUX to do the same task.
